Advanced Musical Theater
8 through 19 years old
What makes our musical theater class different than the other theater programs in the Omaha area? Our mission is to provide a quality program that enables students to be challenged through the beauty of musical theater, in a way that glorifies God. Our course is specifically designed to meet the needs of students wanting to develop their acting and vocal skillset and participate in musical productions. Our focus is to help develop their musicianship, expression, and confidence, and get the chance to participate in a full-scale musical production in the spring of 2025. The Directing Producer and choreographer of this production is Christina Courie, with Musical Director Monica Koffi, and acting coach Marianne Toovey.
*This class has multiple fundraisers that students are required to participate in, as well as parent volunteer hours for all participants in class
Class Schedule
Mondays and Wednesdays
10:45pm to 12:45pm
This class runs for a full nine months, beginning in August, and ending in April after our musical production. Class time is 2 hours twice a week, and cost is $150/Month for all months of rehearsals.
***All students enrolled in this class are guaranteed a role in our production and are required to audition for casting. Auditions are mandatory and will take place from 9AM - 5PM on Monday, July 29th. Failure to attend these auditions will result in student being placed in an ensemble role.
In this course, students will:
Learn it.
We don’t just put on a musical, but we have formulated a curriculum to explore the fundamentals of drama through group activities, character study, and teacher coaching sessions. This course gives students the ability to dive deeper into the world of musical theater, including the basics of auditioning, staging, and more!
Build it.
We will build healthy vocal techniques that focus on breath support, resonance, and diction. Students get the chance to perform in solo and ensemble settings, as well as collaborating with others during rehearsal.
Share it.
The year of learning and building will culminate in a full scale musical production in the spring of 2024. There, students will get the chance to collaborate with others to perform onstage in a professional setting.
$150/Month
*plus a $50 non-refundable enrollment fee per family due at sign-up, and a $15 t-shirt fee. Mandatory participation is required in one fundraiser per semester as well as Parent volunteer hour requirements.
